Evergreen Cemetery Discovery Walk

We've been wanting to attend the local cemetery walk for years but the pieces just never seemed to fit. However, this year we decided to change all that and bought two of the few remaining tickets the day before and joined the crowd Saturday morning for the 11am tour. This year there was a Civil War theme and all the characters "speaking" were somehow involved with the war and are buried in Evergreen Cemetery. The characters were varied and interesting, the actors compelling and the setting absolutely beautiful. We plan to make this an annual event!

The Civil War era band played at the start of the tour.

A Union soldier who escaped battle
and made it home to McLean County

A former slave who helped organize the Emancipation Proclamation Jubilee

Young lovers separated by distance and the war

Even Abe made an appearance!
