When we visited Chicago in January 2009, it was snowing. It seemed every corner was a treacherous combination of knee deep slush and city grime. This year, while it was gray and gloomy, it was also a balmy 45 degrees!
We spent several hours at the Art Institute during the afternoon, met up with Debbie and Tim, and spent the rest of the evening window shopping, drinking wine and eating waaay too much at Texas de Brazil. If you've never experienced one of these restaurants (gauchos serving you meat on a sword! a woman on bungee cords flying up a wall of wine!) it is really something.
In retrospect, I could have stopped with the amazing salad bar (I really hate salad bars and regret even calling it that) but the garlic steak and Fillet Mignon were not to be missed!
We're planning on making this a yearly event. However, next year we should pick someplace warmer...Vegas?
